WESTERN AUSTRALIAN  ATHLETES AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES - Athens 2004

 

The fact that Australia has been represented at every Modern Olympic Games underlines that as a nation, Australia has a long tradition of friendly participation and sportsmanship. Australia and Greece are the only two nations to hold this honour. Australia’s most successful Games was at Sydney in 2000 where we fielded a team of 630 athletes who garnered a medal count of 58. This total was comprised of:

16 Gold           25 Silver           17 Bronze

Athens in 2004 has been the most successful overseas Games with 49 medal. This total comprises of:

17 Gold           16 Silver           16 Bronze
