Western Australian Athletes at the Olympic Games
The fact that Australia has been represented at every Modern Olympic Games underlines that as a nation, Australia has a long tradition of friendly participation and sportsmanship. Australia and Greece are the only two nations to hold this honour.
Australia’s most successful Games was at Sydney in 2000 where we fielded a team of 630 athletes who garnered a medal count of 58. This total is comprised of:

Athens in 2004 has been the most successful overseas Games with 49 medal. This total comprises of:
17 Gold 16 Silver 16 Bronze
WA’s record contingent of 54 athletes made up over 11% of the 2004 Team and they contributed to over 20% of Australia’s medal tally of 17 Gold, 16 Silver and 16 Bronze.
