Career change in 2009/2010 to Access Officer plus OHS and Environmental Advisor.

Then obtained a Cert IV in OHS and Training and Assessment to add to my year's previous OHS construction experience.

Prior to this I was a result orientated, customer focused articulate IT sales professional with more than twenty years experience within the corporate IT Industry. The variety of roles and experience include State and Branch manager, Account management of software, hardware, outsourcing and e-commerce. 2009 (Jan) - (Oct) Casual Contract
Responsibilities
  • Issued daily Access Work Permits to contractors after checking their work documentation: JHA's, Work and vehicle pre-starts and PPE requirements
  • Issued Hazard Reports and confirmed corrective action
  • Monitored all Looping Construction activities to confirm there was no encroachment into the 5 metre 'No Go Zone'
  • Participated in the contractors review of their JHA's
  • Completed daily HSE inspections of the workplace and advised on remedial actions
  • Completed safety and environmental task observations on contractors HSE performance
  • Ensured all construction contractors completed Hazard and Accident reports and closed out on corrective actions
  • Attended and contributed to the contractors site safety pre-start/Toolbox meetings
  • Reported to the Senior HSE advisor
Key achievements:
  • Filled in more than my quota of Hazard Reports through keen observation.
  • Only stopped work once when the supervisor was informed that his crew were in danger. My job was to only advise contracting supervisors rather than instruct them
